Dr Falguni Pati

Principal Investigator

Dr Falguni Pati is currently working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at IIT Hyderabad. He completed his PhD from School of Medical Science and Technology at  IIT Kharagpur in 2011. He pursued Postdoctoral research work in IMS Lab at POSTECH, South Korea (2011-2014) and in Nano Biotechnology Lab at KTH, Sweden (2014-2015). He is the recipient of many awards including the prestigious Ramalingaswami fellowship in 2016. 

Ashis Kumar Bera

Research Scholar

I am a recipient of CSIR-UGC JRF fellowship for pursuing PhD. I have a bachelor's and a master's degree in Human Physiology. In the field of regenerative medicine, 3D Bioprinting is the most promising technology to design and fabricate tissues to restore parts that are lost in trauma or diseases. In this regard, fabricating a vascularised, structural and functional 3D bio-printed tissue stands challenging. I am passionate to develop a highly vascularized 3D bio-printed tissue model for tissue repair. 

Priyanshu Shukla

Research Scholar

I joined as PhD scholar to the BioFabTE Lab, in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, IIT-Hyderabad. I am a recipient of MHRD Fellowship (2018). My research interests lie in the field of cancer biology specifically the aberrant signalling pathways in cancer cells and anti-cancer therapeutics as well as biofabrication and 3D bioprinting. My future work plans involve development of an in vitro cancer model using 3D bioprinting technology for further detailed studies. 

Soham Ghosh

Research Scholar

I have completed my bachelor's and master's in Life Sciences. I am a recipient of the Prime Minister's Research Fellowship (PMRF). Additionally, I hold the CSIR-UGC JRF Fellowship and GATE Biotechnology qualification (AIR 40). As an enthusiastic cell biologist, my research interests in the BiofabTE lab are to explore the translational biomedical field. I am working on developing 3D-bioprinted in vitro lung tissue models.

Anwesha Ghosh

Research Scholar

I am fascinated by nascency of living organism and an extension of this fascination that drew me to biology and related subjects in the first place, and developed my passion for tissue engineering and biofabrication by the time I finished my post graduate studies in biotechnology from University of Hyderabad. I have a Bachelors degree in Life sciences from Presidency University, Kolkata. My research interest revolves around unleashing the mechanism of corneal scarring and 3D bioprinting of cornea as a therapeutic tool.

Sourita Ghosh

I am a recipient of CSIR-UGC net fellowship for pursuing Ph.D. I am highly inquisitive about biological phenomenon and an extension of this inclination that drew my interest in fields of tissue engineering and biofabrication after I completed my masters in biotechnology from Burdwan University. My strong inclination is to pursue a research oriented carrier for a scientifically better tomorrow .My research interest revolves around 3D bioprinting and Tissue engineering of Liver.

My interest in science, propelled me towards a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Mahatma Gandhi University and Master's degree in Biopolymer Science from Central Institute of Plastic Engineering and Technology affiliated with Cochin University of Science and Technology. I am very much interested in developing and fabricating biomaterials for tissue engineering applications, using my knowledge in chemistry and principles of material science. My research interest in BiofabTE lab, focuses on 3D biofabrication technologies to develop complex structured organs and tissues 

Kiranmai Gaddam

From early days of my education, I am fascinated by the scope of the Life Sciences domain in impacting human's life for better well-being. I was introduced to this field during my graduation at Aurora Degree College Hyderabad. Post that, I joined Hyderabad Central University to pursue master's degree in Biochemistry. Later, I worked at CCMB as project JRF, my work primarily involved in assessment of anti-cancer properties of various synthetic molecules and have published 4 research papers in reputed journals. As a PhD student and recipient of the Prime Minister's research Fellowship (PMRF) at BioFab Lab, my research area focuses on development of in vitro 3D glomerulus model for drug testing and understanding Kidney disease mechanisms.

Amit Ghosh

Research Scholar 

I have completed my B.Sc. in Zoology from Siliguri College under University of North Bengal and M.Sc. in Life Sciences from Presidency University, Kolkata. I have joined IITH Interdisciplinary Ph.D. program under BME department and CE department as a recipient of MoE Ph.D. fellowship (2021). I am interested in developmental biology and its regenerative applications using 3D bio-printing technology. Currently my research interest focuses on Bio-printed tumor organoids using patient-derived heterogeneous cell population and droplet microfluidics platform for personalized medicine.

Lubna Zeenat

I am an aspiring scholar and having completed M tech from NIT Bhopal, I joined the Bio Fab lab as a part of the joint doctoral program of 'IIT Hyderabad and Deakin University Australia'. I am immensely interested in bio-science and keen on working to develop and integrate vasculature within printed constructs for enhanced cell viability and function, to ensure functional tissue building for models and implantations.

Dr Sujit Kumar

I am an Orthopaedic Surgeon, who believes in delivering the best treatment options to the patient. I have been focused on keeping myself abreast with the latest techniques and studies, with a single minded goal - to bring feasible and proper healthcare to every individual. I am an Academician and have taken steps to better my clinical expertise too. My area of interest and expertise is Shoulder, Knee Arthroscopy and sports injuries treatment, for which I have conducted fellowship courses too. Now my parallel passion is in 3d bioprinting and augmented reality in health care

Dr. Vineet Pramod Joshi

I am an Ophthalmologist specializing in the management of Corneal Diseases. Recently pursued a Fellowship in LV Prasad Eye Institute Hyderabad in Cornea and Anterior Segment. With a brief stint in PGIMER Chandigarh as a research associate, I had a keen eye towards translational research along with clinics. I have learned in my journey that it is very important to be a 3 H doctor- a doctor with good Hands, Head, and Heart. All 3 being deeply invested in delivering the best possible care for patients in our country and globally, currently, I am offering various corneal transplantation, stem cell transplantation, cataract, and laser corneal surgeries. But when it comes to a load of global corneal blindness the need and supply do not match. We need a newer approach to support the current ongoing treatments and eye banks through corneal regeneration, tissue engineering, and 3d bioprinting and will explore this area of work.

I am a joint doctoral Ph.D. scholar at IIT Hyderabad-Deakin University, Australia—a highly driven biomedical engineer with a passion for cutting-edge research. With a Ph.D. in progress and a Master's in Biotechnology, I have honed my skills in various fields, from cancer research to genetic engineering. I am particularly adept at applying cell and molecular biology techniques in 3D bioprinting of the urinary bladder tissue construct. As a Ph.D. scholar, I am constantly pushing the boundaries of scientific knowledge to create innovative solutions to complex biomedical problems.

Mansi Dixit

I possess a strong educational foundation with a Bachelor's in Pharmacy (B.Pharm) and a Master's in Medical Devices (M.Tech) from NIPER Kolkata. Furthermore, I have achieved noteworthy qualifications in both GPAT and NIPER-JEE. Driven by my background in pharmacy and medical devices, I am now harnessing my knowledge to delve into biochemical science. As a Ph.D. student at the BioFab TE Lab, my research is focused on developing electrically active bioink for cardiac tissue regeneration. I'm excited to bridge the gaps between these diverse fields and contribute to advancements in cardiac health and regeneration.

Bhavsar Aashwini Mahendra

I am a dedicated and aspiring researcher with a diverse educational foundation of B. Pharmacy from Pune University and M. Tech. in Medical Devices from NIPER Kolkata. I have achieved academic excellence through prestigious scholarships, including the GPAT and NIPER JEE. I am pursuing a PhD at the Center of Interdisciplinary Programmes, IIT Hyderabad, in the Biomedical Engineering and Chemistry department. My research focuses on the innovative domain of cardiac tissue engineering using conductive composite hydrogels of bioinspired small molecules and conductive polymers, representing a novel approach to tackling critical challenges in regenerative medicine.

Sreelaxmi Manasa Pethakamsetty

I'm an optometry student currently pursuing an M.Tech in Ophthalmic Engineering, a collaborative program between IIT and LVPEI under the guidance of Dr. Falguni Pati and Dr. Vineet Joshi. My project focuses on "Tenons Tissue ECM Matrix Hydrogel Bioink Preparation, Validation, and 3D Bioprinting", which aims to comprehensively study the biological properties and characteristics of the Tenon's capsule, a fibrous layer that surrounds the eyeball and plays a crucial role in eye movement and stability. I aim address ocular diseases like corneal scarring which is the cause of major vision impairment. I'm passionate about my research and committed to contributing to the field of ophthalmic engineering. 

Vivek M Chourasia

I am currently working on Machine Learning predictive algorithm for improving compressive strength of composite 3d printed constructs. In this project, I aim to improve 3D printing domain by using machine learning to predict the strength of printed materials. I am collecting data, training models, and applying them for better understanding of mechanical properties.

I did bachelor's in biomedical engineering from Vidyalankar Institute of Technology, Mumbai, interned at Masina Hospitals and Global Hospitals as a Biomedical Engineering intern. Currently pursuing MTech in Biomedical engineering at IIT Hyderabad with Nanomedicine and Biomaterials as my specialization and also doing an internship at Medtronic, one of the top medical devices manufacturing companies in the World. My MTech thesis Project is to create a Novel Vascularized Bone on Chip model. This project is under the Friendship 2.0 Research grant 2023 in collaboration with Japan. I'm working under the guidance of Dr. Falguni Pati from IIT Hyderabad and Dr. Hironori Hojo from Tokyo University. My project involves creating a 3D printed chip with GelMA, Silk microfibers, TCP and HA.

Vennam Srija Chowdary

I am an MBBS graduate from Malla Reddy Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad, where I graduated in 2022. As a M.Tech. student here at BioFab TE Lab, I am currently deeply engaged in a pioneering project that focuses on the development of specialized pressure-offloading footwear aimed at preventing diabetic ulcers. My proficiency in CAD modeling further equips me to meticulously design and refine these specialized footwear solutions with precision and efficiency, ensuring they consistently adhere to the highest standards of quality and functionality. Simultaneously, I am conducting research in the field of biofabrication, specifically investigating how scaffold morphology influences cell growth. By synergizing my medical knowledge with advanced biofabrication technologies, I am actively involved in the development of innovative solutions aimed at enhancing the lives of patients.

I completed master's in Biotechnology from Cochin University of Science and Technology and bachelor's in Biotechnology from Calicut University. My work focuses on liver modelling that can mimic the liver microenvironment to study the physiological processes and mechanisms of liver disease and screen potential drug treatment

I am an Oral physician and a Maxillofacial Radiologist by profession with a good clinical experience. With a great passion to provide the best health care for my patients and to improve the present-day treatment strategies, I have joined as a PhD fellow with MHRD scholarship at IITH. Currently, am working on the development of customized implants for maxillofacial reconstruction.

Being CSIR-UGC Fellow, I am pursuing my PhD from Bio-fab Lab collaborated with Bio-medical Optics lab. I have completed my Master's from Department of Physics, Punjab University, Chandigarh. As JRF fellow, I gained research experience from Medical Physics Lab (IISER Mohali) and currently developing Imaging system for foot-pressure distribution. My future work includes imaging of cell structure and corneal biomechanics using Optical Coherence Elasto-graphy technique.

I have completed my master in biotechnology from Pune University. I worked at Apollo Hospitals as a trainee research associate. My research experience includes retinal regeneration in zebrafish in the area of regenerative medicine. I am very much excited to work on development of 'Exosome platform technologies' for therapeutic applications in the area of cancer biology and currently working on in-vitro breast cancer model for better translational relevance.
